Aftermath, 2007

Public Art Exhibition
Independent

I curated a one night scattered site exhibition of Heather Staley’s site responsive artworks across a farm just outside the town of Thornbury in South Gloucestershire. The exhibition was an opportunity to bring together the artist’s recent work in one context.

Excerpt from press release
“As well as celebrating the countryside as a working environment Staley’s practice interprets the landscape through a collapsed capitalist industry. Diminishing the iconic romanticised representations of the English landscape by honestly presenting the severe realities of the countryside, through aggressively direct man-made materials. By the transfer of the agricultural objects physically and verbally through artistic interpretation Staley questions the position of the machinery and objects she works with. “
